Audit

Our audit services are designed to increase the reliability of financial information and, where agreed, selected non-financial disclosures. Without an independent view, documented evidence and a written conclusion, stakeholders cannot easily trust the numbers. The work therefore runs as a single flow that links planning, risk assessment, control testing, substantive procedures and reporting. The aim is not only a short opinion paragraph, but also a clear view of weak links for management.

The service fits companies subject to statutory audit, organisations preparing for an offering, subsidiaries that report into a group and boards that want special-purpose assurance. Scale changes; the need does not. People still want to see where a figure came from, which control actually works and which assumption is fragile. The same discipline is applied, with different risk weights, in banks, insurers, plants, trading companies and service groups.

An audit plan is not a universal checklist. We first read the business, the sector, the information systems and prior-period findings. We then rank significant accounts, fraud risk and regulatory expectations. Fieldwork combines sampling, analytical review, confirmations, inventory and cash counts, and tests of management representations. Where technology allows, the full population of transactions is scanned so that exceptions classic sampling might miss appear earlier.

The quality of evidence is the quality of the opinion. Request lists are therefore not inflated at random; each request is tied to a risk. Delayed or incomplete evidence is followed up in writing. Communication with management is regular: a kick-off, interim findings and a closing meeting. The reporting day should not be a surprise. Independence, confidentiality and working-paper discipline are stated at the start.

The output has two layers. The first is the auditor’s opinion or assurance conclusion under the agreed framework. The second is a management letter: control gaps, cut-off issues, access weaknesses, and inconsistencies in estimates and provisions. Those notes are not an accusation. They are a work list so that the next close can run with less friction.

Timing is critical. Inventory dates, the close calendar and the date on which an opinion is needed for a loan or an offering must be agreed early. A late start does not increase quality; it increases pace pressure. Early planning gives the finance team air and the audit team depth. Interim reviews reduce the year-end pile.

Information systems now sit at the centre of audit, not at the edge. Unauthorised access, uncontrolled program change or weak backup also weakens financial evidence. Systems risk is therefore a natural part of statutory audit and assurance. When sustainability indicators are requested, we do not attach a conclusion to a figure that cannot be traced. Traceability comes first.

The audit family covers statutory audit, information-systems risk, data analytics, assurance, a digital fieldwork platform, capital-markets work and sustainability assurance. These titles feed one another. An analytical exception directs a substantive test. A systems weakness raises account-level risk. An offering timetable makes the timely opinion non-negotiable. The team therefore works in files that can see one another, not in sealed rooms.

A sound audit relationship is not an external control that appears only in certain weeks of the year. It is a working order in which the finance team can ask questions, understand why evidence is requested and discuss findings. We build that order. The opinion stays independent. The conversation stays respectful and clear. The target is both a report that meets the framework and an improvement list that management can use.

In Audit work, items left outside the scope are not left with an oral “we will look later”. The boundary is written, and so is the reason for the boundary. The team then puts every new request through the same gate. Without a gate the work grows quietly and both the calendar and the quality of evidence suffer. We do not forbid growth. We make growth visible. Visible growth lets management take the budget and independence decision on time. That discipline does not shrink the deliverable. It keeps the deliverable carryable.

Knowledge transfer is part of the Audit file. If the work stays with one person or with one name from an external team, the same discovery is done again in the next period. A glossary, a checklist and the reasons for decisions are therefore left in the organisation’s own language. Training is not a slide deck. It is a short routine used at the next close. If the routine does not run, we write that down as well. If it is not written, improvement stays a meeting memory. The aim is not to keep the organisation dependent on us. It is to let it speak the same language on its own.

Follow-up after a Audit delivery is kept short. The first period shows whether the assumption still stands in the field. If it does not, the correction is made without inflating it into a new project. If it does, the file becomes the opening of the next period. This follow-up is not a marketing “continuation contract”. It is there to see whether the deliverable is alive. If it is not alive, the reason is not hidden. If it is alive, we do not write a praise text. We only set the date of the next threshold.
